On the one hand, you want to wait until the muscle has fully repaired itself and begun to overcompensate with increased size and strength. On the other hand, you don’t want to wait so long that you actually begin to detrain. In this article, I address the consequences of a damaging workout, I outline the cycle of muscle repair, and I discuss how to promote more rapid recovery to allow for more frequent training.
