Coaching Interviews:
Dan Pope
Dan
Pope is a 20 year old student at Rutgers University studying exercise
physiology and nutrition. Dan started lifting weights 4 years ago but
still weighed in at 160lbs before coaching with us. Now, at 175 lean
pounds, Dan looks like a different guy.
Dr Berardi:
Dan, after following our program what kind of results did you get?
Dan:
I'm 5'9". Before I started the program I was 160 pounds and about
10% body fat. Pretty lean but smaller than I wanted to be. At the end
of 16 weeks, I was 185 pounds and about 14% body fat.
Dr Berardi:
Impressive results! These are the types of changes most people would
never imagine being able to make.
Dan:
I know and the pest part is that the program was very easy to follow.
The guidelines were complete and accurate. As I really love lifting
weights and training, I wanted to gain a lot of weight and get very
strong while still looking great. I think I accomplished just that.
Dr Berardi:
Did you get stronger during the program? If so, give me some examples
of how much stronger.
Dan:
I got much stronger during the program. I’m a big fan of the heavy
sets of 5 reps and lower. By the end of the program I dead lifted 425
for a triple and box squatted 385 for a triple. Before starting the
program my squat was around 325 pounds for a max single.
Dr Berardi:
How did others respond as your body changed? What kind of things did
they say?
Dan:
I really liked the way my body grew. It was a lot of fun. A lot of people
commented on how much bigger I was, but in a good way.
Dr Berardi:
What did you learn while following the program?
Dan:
I think the most important thing I learned is that a huge transformation
can be made with proper training and nutrition.
Dr Berardi:
Describe your total experience.
Dan:
The experience was fantastic. I've never gained size and strength at
that fast a pace. Everyone was surprised at the results. It's definitely
a confidence builder as well, the human body is amazing.
Dr Berardi:
If someone was hesitant about getting started on the program, what advice
would you give them?
Dan:
Don't be. The information is right on. The advice is from experts and
the results are backed up by science and real life results.
