PNN Interviews:
Kris Aiken

Kris Aiken is not only a Precision Nutrition Network member; he’s also a professional football player. You see, during his sport season, Kris is a starting special teams player for the CFL’s Toronto Argonauts. And in the off-season, Kris directs the personal training program at Planet Workout in Mississauga, Ontario as well as teaches speed camps through Sports Specific Training in Brampton, Ontario. In this interview, Kris talks about how he uses the Precision Nutrition Network to get fantastic results with his athletes as well as his non-athletes.

Dr Berardi:
Kris, you’ve got a lot going on, no doubt. So give us a brief synopsis of your involvement in the sport and/or fitness community?

Kris:
Well, I’ve been involved in the industry, as a personal trainer, for the past 5 years. Last year I was fortunate enough to land on the ground floor of a new fitness facility so I have the opportunity to build and run a training and nutrition program myself.

Also, as you mentioned in my intro, I am also a professional football player, with the Toronto Argonauts of the CFL. With respect to this, I sincerely credit my being here to the Science Link nutritional system. Even before I was a trainer, JB and his team taught me what I needed to know to go from a 160lb university athlete to a 195lb professional athlete.

Dr Berardi:
Now that you’re building a training and nutrition program, what was it about the PNN that stood out? Why did you think it was important? What needs did your clients/athletes have that weren’t being met?

Kris:
Nutrition was the biggest factor in my being able to achieve my physique and performance goals. Therefore, I knew that changing my client’s nutrition was going to be a key factor in helping them achieve their goals as well.

The truth is, most of my clients work really hard in the gym. But their lack of results comes as a result of their hours outside of the gym. Poor nutritional habits, habits many of them think are ok, are holding them back.

I quickly discovered that the PNN program provides them with high quality nutritional re-education at an affordable price. Deliver something of high value at the right price and you can’t help but make money yourself.

The PN program has been a great new revenue stream for my business. My clients are now getting better results than ever, and I have seen a huge increase in revenue.

Dr Berardi:
I’m curious - did you have any reservations before you registered for the PNN program?

Kris:
I had no reservations about the PN Program – but that was likely due to all the personal success I had with you. The dramatic changes I saw as a result of following the PN principles sold me on your advice.

Having first-hand experience in the program was one major factor. The other was the business model. It’s a no-brainer, really. The advice is awesome and the profit potential is huge!

Dr Berardi:
What about the distance-based nature of the program? Did you have a hard time getting your head around the fact that I wouldn’t be on site? What made up your mind?

Kris:
I’ve never seen anyone get results like you do. Never. And as I feel we provide the best training service around, I resolved to provide the best nutrition service as well. After working with PN, I’m convinced it’s the best.

Would I like you to be here working at my facility? Of course! However, that’s not possible so I did the next best thing – joined PN. Why on earth would I hire a mediocre dietitian that would cost me much more than PN?

Dr Berardi:
Alright, let’s talk about your clients? What do they like best about the nutritional system?

Kris:
It works! Seriously, everyone who follows it gets results!

I don’t think anyone will be shocked to know that this is what clients like best – great results for their efforts. Now, it doesn’t hurt that the recipes and cooking tips also mean great-tasting food. At first however, it is always the results people are focused on.

Sure, some find it a challenge to make the lifestyle changes and develop good habits. That’s where the beauty of the PNN system lies – it teaches people how to make these changes. Creating a new lifestyle and food associations always take some adjusting to.

Dr Berardi:
Let’s talk results. What kinds of results do your clients/athletes get when using the program?

Kris:
Amazingly, my clients are dropping 1-2% body fat every 2 weeks and making great increases in lean mass.

Besides these objective measures, they generally feel more confident and happy with their bodies. One of my clients keeps on telling me that she “can’t wait for summer” and that she “can’t wait to be half naked all the time.” This improvement in confidence has impacted all kinds of areas of her life!

Dr Berardi:
So what would you say are your top PN lessons?

Kris Aiken:
The “10 Habits” top the list. Once people learn the 10 habits, everything changes. “The 21 Super Food” lists are also amazing to teach clients. Clients also benefit from learning about “anytime” and “post-workout” meals. Also, the food preparation strategies are life-changing.

But not only have my clients learned a lot. So have I!

Dr Berardi:
Do me a favor, Kris, and describe your total experience implementing the PNN system.

Kris:
It’s easy to do a job when you have the right tools. Precision Nutrition offers the right tools to improve health, body comp, and performance.

Dr Berardi:
If someone was hesitant about working with us, what advice would you give them?

Kris:
I would ask them if they wanted to change their physique.

If they answered yes, I would ask if they had a plan?

If they said no, I would tell them that the world’s best plan came in a white binder with two words on it:
